Christopher Greene Imports specializes in the importation and distribution of European wines into and throughout the U.S. Each wine designated as “a Christopher Greene Selection” has been personally researched and sampled by Christopher Greene prior to its importation. A visit has also been made to the producer in order to establish a relationship with the vintner, and to verify that the production techniques meet or exceed expected standards.

How are Christopher Greene Imports’ wines selected?

After preliminary research, Christopher Greene travels to the designated foreign country to conduct further studies. Interviews with the sommeliers and wine merchants give indication to the local wines of high regard. This information is cross-referenced with publicized results from local wine competitions. Once a list of potential producers is established, appointments are made, and evaluations of the facilities, products and personnel are conducted. Only a small percentage of wines are deemed worthy of a “Christopher Greene Selection.”

What are some of the best wines at present?

Currently, Christopher Greene has been particularly impressed with the wines from Austria. The quality of both the red and white wines has been dramatically improving over the last decade. There has been a recent campaign in Austria, encouraged by the Austrian government, for the producers to put huge capital investments into their facilities and education in order to be able to provide wines of world-class stature. As a result, many Austrian wines are now comparable with some of the finest wines in the world.
